Governor Marina del Pilar responds to context of previously released audio recording

Baja California maintains institutional coordination with Mexican and U.S. authorities to combat crime, strictly within the legal framework.

Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda today clarified that recently released audio clips are excerpts from a private conversation with individuals who identified themselves as agents or intermediaries for U.S. authorities, but who failed to formally certify that representation.

According to the Governor, during the exchange these individuals presented various legal scenarios but offered no official documents, identification, or formal requests to support their claims. She stated that any matter of that nature must be handled through proper legal and institutional channels.

Governor Avila Olmeda emphasized that she remains calm and fully willing to clarify any situation formally raised by competent authorities, as she has no irregular conduct to conceal.

She further explained that any references to cooperation and information exchange pertain exclusively to Baja California’s institutional coordination—as a border state—with Mexican and U.S. security agencies. That collaboration operates strictly within the law, through official channels, and with full respect for each institution’s jurisdiction, under a clear principle: coordination and communication, not subordination.

The Governor rejected interpretations based on isolated fragments of the conversation and reiterated that her focus remains on advancing security, well-being, and peace for Baja California families, while continuing to strengthen shared prosperity across the state.
